Appreciating that effective leadership is key to shaping and driving strategic change to support thriving communities, Sue has chosen Leadership in Action as the theme of her Presidential year. Why? Sue comments that “Leadership is a core skill for designing, managing and evaluating knowledge and library services”, adding that “All of us can take a leadership role - connecting, influencing and inspiring positive change.” One of Sue’s ambitions for the year ahead is to highlight the importance of KM, helping CILIP to demonstrate how library, knowledge and information teams in all sectors contribute to helping communities to thrive and to building the economy of the future.
In that spirit, Sue continues to facilitate regular transatlantic round-table discussions as part of her role as Visiting Professor in Knowledge and Information Mobilisation at Manchester Metropolitan University. She brings together experts in knowledge management and clinical informatics from both sides of ‘the pond’ to explore pressing issues in healthcare for which better knowledge management and knowledge mobilisation solutions can make a difference.
