11.30 am Service at St Bride’s Church 12.30 pm Lunch at Stationers’ Hall 2.45 pm Event ends
For many this occasion is one of the most special in the Company calendar. The Richard Johnson Service, known as the ‘Bubble Service’, at St Bride’s Church, Fleet Street is followed by a lunch with the Court at Stationers’ Hall.
The service will begin at 11.30 am and you are requested to be seated by 11.15 am. The preacher this year will be The Venerable Luke Miller, Archdeacon of London, who will, as requested by Richard Johnson in his Last Will & Testament, take on the topic of Vita Human Bulla Est (Life is a Bubble) for his sermon. The music at the Bubble Service, provided by the excellent choir of St Bride’s, is always wonderful and features, amongst more sacred anthems, the popular “I’m for ever blowing bubbles”.
Following the service, pre-lunch drinks will be served in the garden from 12.30 pm to 1.00 pm. Lunch will consist of a three-course meal with wines and coffee, and should finish by 2.45 pm.
PLEASE NOTE THAT FREEMEN MAY BRING ONE GUEST ONLY.
When the Hall reaches capacity, the Stock Room will be used for lunch tables. Places in the Hall will be given on a first come, first served basis. We will inform you if there is a chance of your booking being seated in the Stock Room. At this lunch we celebrate our association with the Royal Marines Corps by awarding two Stationers’ trophies to two Royal Marines at this lunch.
The price is £65 per head (including VAT). To book tickets please complete the form below and return it, with your cheque, as soon as possible. Alternatively book online at www.stationers.org/events. The closing date for bookings is Tuesday, 23 May 2017, after which no refunds will be given. We will not be sending out tickets for this event, but you will receive a confirmation email instead.
