The Livery Committee presents an evening with the Red Arrows at Stationers' Hall:
In the height of the "swinging sixties" the RAF formed an aerobatic team that would win the hearts of a nation. Philip Holt will take us through the events that led to the creation of the world's best-loved team of pilots. He will then speak about the men and women in the famous red suits, who make precision their profession, teamwork their science and aerobatics their art form.
Since the team’s creation in 1965, the Red Arrows have flown over 4,000 displays in 52 countries. Today the Red Arrows are renowned throughout the world, acting as ambassadors for Great Britain when displaying overseas. They also support the UK industry by demonstrating the capabilities of British equipment and expertise.
Philip Holt joined National Air Traffic Services (NATS) in 1972 as an Air Traffic Controller, a career spanning almost 40 years serving at seven locations, including London Heathrow, the busiest airport in the world. He served as a reservist in the R.A.F. as a flying instructor and in Maritime Air Region operations. Philip, involved with airshow organising, continues as an active pilot and can count amongst his flying achievements parachute dropping and flying for the St John’s Ambulance air wing. Recently he has become a volunteer guide at the RNLI College in Poole as well as an educational lecturer for the Institute.
The evening will begin with a drinks reception at 6.30 pm followed by the main event at 7.00 pm. You will have a chance to ask Philip questions at the Q&A session. A light buffet supper will be served after the presentation at 8.30 pm. The event will end at 9.45 pm.
A raffle will be held at this event, with some wonderful prizes. All the money from the raffle and any surplus made at the event goes to the Stationers’ Foundation. Your support is greatly appreciated.
