At the last Membership Development Committee meeting, I was asked if I might use my blog to remind all members of the Company's need to attract new members.
Although our current membership numbers are good (around 480 Liverymen and 320 Freemen), we lose around 50 members a year for various reasons and so we do need a constant stream of candidates for membership.
There are a reasonable number coming through the membership pipeline at the moment but the number of new names being proposed has dropped off since the start of 2010 and this may lead to problems keeping the membership numbers up in 2011.
So please can all members redouble their efforts to recruit new candidates for membership. Names for potential new members should be submitted to Deborah Rea (email: firstname.lastname@example.org). Obviously they should have been approached by yourself and have expressed an interest in becoming a member first!
I hope that you will agree that the Stationers' Company is a lively and vibrant livery company with lots of informative and enjoyable events; membership brings real value and is fun. So please encourage as many other members of our industries to take advantage of it!
