The Digital Media Group is holding a really special Roundtable on Tuesday 17th March 2015 at Stationers' Hall – the subject will be "An Evening With Facebook."
Facebook started in 2004 and in May 2005, Accel partners invested $12.7 million and Facebook was really on its way. In January 2009 Entertainment Weekly said "How on earth did we stalk our exes, remember our co-workers' birthdays, bug our friends, and play a rousing game of Scrabulous before Facebook?
Since then the rise has been inexorable and Facebook is now a $200 billion company. In 2014 Facebook bought mobile messaging company Whatsapp, followed by the acquisition of Pryte, a Finnish mobile data-plan firm that aims to make it easier for mobile phone users in underdeveloped parts of the world to use wireless Internet apps. Next was the acquisition of LiveRail, a San Francisco based online video advertising company. LiveRail's technology facilitates the sale of video inventory across different devices.
