Stationers' Hall was packed with 230 people creating a wonderful atmosphere last Saturday when members, their families and friends came together to watch the Lord Mayor’s Show Parade at St Paul's. Although the weather was miserable it did not dampen their spirits.
As our Stationers' float passed
in the parade there was loads of cheering and our flags were being waved. As well as our float, which featured the Stationers’ support for all our educational projects, there were many other fantastic floats. Here are some favourites of the day:
Towards the end of the parade the Lord Mayor arrived in his golden carriage and it was the highlight of the event!
After a great show members were able to warm up with a hearty buffet full of home favourites including shepherd’s pie and sticky toffee pudding! Entertainment included a prize raffle in aid of the Stationers' Foundation and we managed to raise around £900. The young winners and friends of Court Assistant Kit van Tulleken, Edie (age 6) and Harper (age 8) Rowley were very happy with their prize win, ‘Bertie, the Chelsea Pensioner Bulldog’! The magician, David Abel, was also fantastic at entertaining the children and also enticing adults into the hall!
In the afternoon, the Master arrived back at the hall and gave a speech to thank everyone who had put the event together. She also awarded the Royal Marine Cadets, the children from the Citvas Saturday School, students from Stationers’ Crown Woods Academy and the students who represented the Shine School Media Awards all of whom who took part in the parade, with certificates and Stationers' mugs.
The celebration was a great success and the Stationers' Company was very proud to be involved in the Lord Mayor’s Show!
