Staff from Stationers' Hall and Cutlers' Hall joined together at 11.00 am today to watch the two Masters lay wreaths at the memorial for the Stationers who fell in the Great War and to remember in silence all those who have lost their lives in conflicts across the globe.
The team from Chester Boyd and the gardeners who were working at the Hall at the time also joined this short but important ceremony. The Clerk was representing the Stationers’ Company at the SCWA service of remembrance and so it was Giles Fagan who read out the well-known verse from For the Fallen by Robert Laurence Binyon which was originally published in The Times newspaper on 21st September 1914.
They shall grow not old, as we that are left grow old:
Age shall not weary them, nor the years condemn.
At the going down of the sun and in the morning
We will remember them.
