The Company was once again delighted to welcome to the Hall representatives from the Trade Associations linked to the Communications and Content industries for the annual TA Winter Lunch.
In recent years this event has taken the form of a session during which two speakers give presentations which generate questions and discussion. These continue over lunch. This year we were delighted to listen to Charles Jarrold CEO of BPIF talk about Apprenticeships and the levy which comes in to play this coming April. His presentation was positive with some slight concerns about the system and how the levy will work in practice but all in all he gave the impression of a good development and lots to be hopeful about.
Then we heard from John Arnold, Managing Director of Northern & Universal Ltd who gave an insight into what the current state of play is within the political parties at Westminster, how Brexit might progress and also what might happen in Europe and the US. This was interesting and provided optimism and pessimism in big doses as well as fascinating character snaps of some of the main characters in UK politics. Such was the enthusiasm for the topics that the questions and debate flowed and the session over ran slightly!
All attendees went away having learned something which they were able to take back to their TA . Our thanks go to Liveryman Tim Webb who ran the event (on the right of the photo collage) for sourcing these speakers.
