Stationers will be keen to watch the programme called King George III - The Genius of the Mad King on BBC tonight, Monday, 30 January.  There are some details about it here on the BBC website (from which we have taken the image of King George III, above) but one detail it omits is the involvement of Freeman Oliver Urquhart Irvine.

DSC 1344

Oliver, who was made free of the Company in January, is the Librarian, and Assistant Keeper of the Queen's Archive and appeared on Radio 4's Today programme last Saturday to talk about the online release of the personal papers of King George III including a draft letter of abdication and letters to Queen Charlotte (click here to go to the relevant page to listen to Oliver being interviewed by John Humphrys.  Use the slider to go direct to 08.40).

Anyone interested in history will be fascinated so do watch the programme tonight or on BBC i-Player here and also have a look at the Georgian Papers Programme website here.
