After days of drilling, digging and rubble removal by the contractors (no mean feat in the recent heat) the flat in the admin block has today had its new concrete floor poured in preparation for the transfer of the Archive in the autumn. The front courtyard which normally seems so spacious was filled with a huge lorry
and a pump and the garden saw a pipeline laid to the door of the old admin block where the liquid concrete arrived and was then spread by three men with shovels. Such hard work!
It is very exciting to see, at last, the work on the ground resulting from the months of planning for this exercise. There will now be a period of drying and curing before work continues on the floor in August which is when the Hall usually sees the majority of its maintenance work undertaken.
