Glorious sunshine welcomed the Northern Stationers to another first - a day at York Races - on Saturday, 17 June.
21 Stationers and guests enjoyed a very successful day of racing in aid of Macmillan Cancer Support.
The private box and hospitality organised by Northern Stationers, overlooked the finishing line and gave a spectacular view of the whole course was appreciated by all present, as was our personal tipster who was provided by the race course to assist with selections. One of the highlights of the day was his
invitation to join him in the Parade Ring, a rare privilege to be among the horses, their owners and jockeys and TV cameras. Good food, wine and excellent company all contributed to making the day a
huge success and, bearing in mind the focus of the day, a significant contribution which amounted to around £400 was donated by attendees which was split between Macmillan Cancer Support and The Stationers’ Academy.
Northern Stationers next event will be a lunch and visit to the UNESCO World Heritage Site, Saltaire, Bradford, including the David Hockney Gallery celebrating his 80th birthday with an exclusive viewing of some of his lithography. There will also be an option to see the working letterpress printing gallery at the nearby Industrial Museum.
The date for your diary is Wednesday, 18 October and already we have been delighted by the level of interest from Stationers from all parts of the country. Some have indicated they will come and want to stay overnight. Please let Robert McClements know if you are interested in coming whether you would like an option to stay the night before, would like to meet for dinner and your choice of Hockney or the Printing Museum. If Stationers would like to do both and/or stay we will develop the arrangements and offer choices.
PLEASE INDICATE YOUR PREFERENCES SO WE CAN MAKE THE ARRANGEMENTS TO SUIT.
