Members will be interested to hear about, and possibly keen to support, Liveryman Steve Hilleard (in blue check shirt in photo above) and Liveryman Janet Bell (in green in the photo above and on the climb in photo below) who will be taking part in the office products industry’s Climb of Life.
Steve says “Every year, around now, myself and a small but resilient group of colleagues at my company OPI prepare to do battle with the very worst of the British weather in the name of a good cause, namely fighting cancer which will affect one in every three of us in our lifetimes.
On 3 November, Team OPI will once again join the office products industry’s Climb of Life in England’s Lake District where the group will attempt to climb 30 of the most difficult mountains in the country, most likely in awful conditions as this video from a past climb shows.
Why? Quite simply, we do this to raise much-needed funds for The Institute of Cancer Research (ICR). As the third largest medical research organisation of its kind in the world, the ICR works with teams across the world to ensure the best treatments are developed to help as many cancer sufferers as possible. However, these discoveries take a lot of work and investment, and that’s where we can all make a difference.
For eight years, OPI has been proud to help our industry support ICR and, by raising more than £100,000 every year, we hope that we can continue to play a small part in helping develop life-saving treatments.
But we haven’t beaten cancer yet so please will you consider supporting our efforts with a donation? Any amount is gratefully received and really does help us get through what is a very tough challenge.” If you wish to support Team OPI you can do so here https://www.justgiving.com/COL2017
