Liveryman David Houseman reports on the Stationers' Foundation Golf Classic held last month:

On a lovely sunny morning sixty or so players assembled at Worplesdon Golf Club in Surrey to play in the twelfth Charity Golf Day.

The Course as ever challenged the field with its testing greens, lakes and heather, making it one of the best heathland courses in Surrey.

After a morning spent in the sunshine the scores as ever reflected some of trials and successes of the participants' efforts but happily as a pre-lunch drink on the terrace was taken to revive the happy throng, memories of the round were soon forgotten or embellished.

A splendid lunch was served in the wood beamed vaulted Dining Room where the Master, Nick Steidl, spent a few minutes talking about the work of the Foundation before presenting the prizes.

After some delicious puddings, Duncan McEuen our Auctioneer for the past three years once more worked his magic and helped to raise a very creditable sum.

Our thanks go out to all those who played as well as our Sponsors and those who donated Auction and Raffle items which helped us to raise just over £8,000 thus bringing the total raised through this event to over £100,000.

The Prize Winners were as follows:

Team Prize:                                Think Highlands – 87 points

Individual Prize:                         Stephen Mason – 40 points
