Court Assistant Martin Woodhead writes: This CCF unit is a wonderful example of what the Stationers' Company has been able to contribute to SCWA. Through its existing relationship with the Royal Marines and Leigh Academies Trust, and developing a new relationship with Greenwich Hospital, a Royal Navy charity since 1694, the Company was able to drive forward the proposal that a new Royal Marines CCF might be established at SCWA.
Through the hard work of Past Masters Helen Esmonde and Kevin Dewey this has now come about, with considerable financial support from Greenwich Hospital. The Company is extremely grateful to Hugh Player, CEO of Greenwich Hospital, and all his staff.
Martin's full coverage of the event will be in Stationers' News but the Stationers' Crown Woods Academy Crown Flyer of 14 September has their take on the event and it can be accessed here.
In the photo you can see Jules (cadet), Court Assistant Sue Pandit (Chair of Governors, SCWA), David Millar (Executive Principal SCWA), David Allan (Master of the Stationers' Company), Cllr Christine May (Mayor of the Royal Borough of Greenwich), Lt Col Jason Durup, Major J D Wilson TD, ( SCWA Staff) and Molly (Cadet). The video of the opening is now available and can be viewed here. SCWA are grateful to David Milliken for his work on this.
