Following the success of the Publishing Sector's get-together after one of the days at the London Book Fair in the Spring, it was decided that a similar event should be tried at the Print Show for the Print Sector. Liveryman Bettine Pellant in her capacity as the Stationers’ Company’s Champion of Sector Champions was able to secure a space in the Exhibition Hall at the end of yesterday’s show and so it was that some 30 Stationers, potential Stationers and friends of the Company gathered at 17.00 yesterday and enjoyed an hour's discussion and networking. It was great to see Liverymen Di Cresswell, Annie Hotton, and Robert McClements and Freemen Aron Priest, Richard Little, and Richard Mawson. Corporate Member Premier Paper was there represented by Dave Jones together with representatives from BPIF, Picon, IPIA and Two Sides.
The show itself was buzzing gently with various print machinery on show from the traditional to the most up-to-date. Liveryman Mike Waller was enjoying the exhibits and chatting to the exhibitors and no doubt other Stationers will be there over the next two days as well. During the Show, as well as the opportunity to visit all the stands there will be a series of short seminars to attend - one of yesterday’s was given by Freeman Charles Jarrold (see photo) on the state of Printing and it was good to hear him say that although it might look as if the print industry was shrinking in fact it was just changing shape!
