The Trade Association Winter Event is held each year and provides an opportunity for the TAs in the communications and content industry gather to discuss topics of interest generally and to network with each other. Monday, 21 January saw representatives from the Professional Publishers Association, Publishers' Licensing Services, the British Printing Industries Federation, the British Association for Print and Communication, the Confederation of Paper Industries, the News Media Association, the Processing and Packaging Machinery Association, the European Flexographic Industry Association, British Education Suppliers Association, the Packaging Federation and Picon gather at the Hall to hear Gareth Ward of Print Business give his take on the direction Printing is taking (away from traditional, ever increasingly towards digital, with new business and delivery models and on substrates as diverse as fabric, sledge seats and paper!) and then to hear the Lord Triesman talk about the current political situation, specifically BREXIT, a topic which seemingly could run and run although one point of agreement around the table was the hope that it doesn’t! It provoked a lively debate but no-one resigned or walked away from the table! Is there a lesson in there somewhere?
In the photo above you can see from L-R Liveryman Tim Webb (TA liaison) Gareth Ward, the Lord Triesman, the Master, Sidney Bobb (BAPC), Andrew Large (CPI), Tom Bowtell (BCF), Freeman Debbie Waldron-Hoines (EFIA), Liveryman Bettine Pellant (Picon), Freeman Charles Jarrold (BIPF), Dr Andrew Mint (PPMA), David Newell (NMA), Sarah Faulder (PLS), Dick Searle (Packaging Federation), Freeman Richard Little and the Clerk.
Patrick Hayes of BESA was unable to stay for the Lunch and Owen Meredith of PPA joined the gathering after the photo was taken so neither of them are pictured.
