On Tuesday, 17 October the Stationers’ Company tentatively dipped its toe in yet another Inter-Livery sport. The Clerk joined with the Clerk of the Brewers’ Company in the inaugural Psigma Inter-Livery Real Tennis handicap doubles competition. We are grateful to Mr Richard Dalzell for his comprehensive write-up of the day’s play which you can read here. HRH the Earl of Wessex attended and at the black-tie dinner which rounded off the day Prince Edward’s Equerry spoke about Prince Edward's plan to play three sets of tennis on every one of the 50 or so real tennis courts worldwide during 2018, with the aim of raising £2m to support more young people in participating in the Duke of Edinburgh’s Award.
These Inter-Livery events are great fun and usually centre on a sport. There is an element of competition but the most important thing is the taking part and making sure that the Stationers’ Company is seen at the heart of City Livery Company activities – looking outwards and joining in! Please let us know of any sports or activities you undertake and at which you would be prepared to represent the Company. In the Photo you can see the Clerk with his partner Colonel Michael O'Dwyer OBE.
