The Stationers’ Company is an ancient livery company with modern aspirations. We support the UK Communications and Content industries through fellowship, education, training and charitable endeavour.

Our membership comprises of individuals and businesses that make up the diverse, vibrant and creative UK communications and content industries.
On joining the Stationers’ Company, you will be warmly welcomed into a friendly, vibrant and supportive community of industry colleagues and professionals.
The Stationers’ Company, also known as the Worshipful Company of Stationers and Newspaper Makers, was founded in 1403 by three trades: Scriveners, Lymners and Book Binders.
It was granted a Royal Charter in 1557 by Queen Mary Tudor and is the birthplace of copyright law in the UK. It is number 47 in the order of precedence out of 113 livery companies in the City of London.
Membership Information
If you interested in joining the Stationers’ Company, please fill out the Application Form and contact our Membership Manager, Karyn Keating on communications@stationers.org. If your application is assessed suitable for joining, you will be invited to meet with potential sponsors, attend a briefing by the Clerk and have an interview with two senior members of the Company. This process is also your opportunity to find out more about our organisation and ask any questions you have.
All members pay a one-off fee (or fine) on becoming a freeman and on becoming a liveryman. An annual subscription (or ‘Quarterage’) is paid by all members, which goes towards the cost of running the Company. Details of the fees and fines can be found here
