In January 2016 the Government Statisticians reckoned that the UK’s Creative Industries are now worth £84.1 billion per year to the UK economy. As a Company we often quote such figures to impress upon our audiences at events, etc, how important the sectors we cover are to the UK. A press release (click here to read) received from Liveryman Mark Allen gave us pause for thought.
It is all about Mark’s company buying another brand ‘Community Care’ and it was the sector served by that brand that struck home. Yes, our industries raise money for and are of, often understated, importance to the economy BUT they are also informing, educating or supporting other sectors of huge importance to the UK. Where would our social workers, caring for people across the breadth and length of society, be without titles in the Community Care stable? Then think of all the other publications, websites, exhibitions, etc, contributing not just to the economy but also in many other ways.
