On Monday 16 September Stationers’ Hall saw the Tri-Livery Digital Media Group Event focus on
How Blockchain is Changing our Lives.
Trevor Fenwick, Master of the Stationers’ Company welcomed a lively audience on behalf the Master of the Information Technologists and the Master of the Marketors.
Eric van der Kleij, entrepreneur and adviser to government entertainingly introduced the subject and moderated the discussion generated by our panel of experts all of whom operate in this field. They were: Rob Gaskell, CEO and co-founder 2030 Asset Management and Group Head of Risk. Steve Ackland, CEO AiM who brought his direct experience of micro service platforms and Dr Stylianos Kampakis who provided an expert research overview and perspective and who explained that he shifted to Blockchain when he realised it was much more than Bitcoin!
On the day, two of the planned panellists were unable to make the event, one through illness and one through a delayed flight but Erica Stanford of the Crypto Curry Club, stepped in and as a co-founder of Blockchain projects and networking events, she shared her practical insight and guidance on real life Blockchain in use.
Attendees concluded that, whether we realise it or not, Blockchain is already a core part of our lives. The Master of the Information Technologists closed the evening and responded, confidently, to the Chair’s comment that perhaps there would one day be a Worshipful Company of Blockchain by demonstrating that the Tri-Livery was exactly that.
More detailed coverage from Court Assistant Carol Tullo OBE will be available in the next issue of Stationers’ News.
