Each year hundreds of secondary schools (state, special education and private) sign up to participate in the Stationers’ Shine School Media Awards, a national competition that promotes the communications industry to young people. The magazine or newspaper projects can include illustration and artwork, print and design, cartoons, marketing, community and environmental initiatives, photography, journalism, editing and even podcasts/online activity.
By introducing schools to our industries, Shine can promote the potential of a print or communications career and generate goodwill towards our sector generally.
At the summer awards ceremony held in Stationers' Hall, winning schools are awarded prizes of resources up to a value of £1000, places on a workshop run by Times Educational Supplement, masterclasses with top class journalists, work experience at national broadsheets and visits to printing and packaging industry leaders.
Shine is funded by a range of industry sponsors including the Stationers’ Foundation. We are constantly seeking ways to expand our outreach and increase our prizes and welcome any interest from those who would like to support us. Please contact email@example.com if you would like to learn more.
