The remarkable life and legacy of Sir Christopher Wren
A walking tour you will never forget

Join an award-winning professional guide and Stationer, Liveryman David Harry, for a tour of the brilliant legacy of Britain’s greatest architect – Sir Christopher Wren.

Wren (1632-1723) was a towering polymath genius who straddled the Stuart and Hanoverian dynasties. Follow in his steps and experience incredible examples of his work in their most concentrated collection in the country – the City of London.

We start at St Magnus Martyr by London Bridge (as immortalised by TS Eliot in the Waste Land) and stroll our way around Wren’s works, ending up, of course, by St Paul’s Cathedral, voted by BBC polls as the greatest building in the country.

The route will include stories of Wren’s own career, born into the heart of the Stuart Household, a Gresham Professor of Astronomy, mathematician, founder and president of the Royal Society, pioneer of blood transfusion and much more.

The route will follow (time allowing): St Magnus Martyr, The Monument, St Margaret Pattens, St Mary Abchurch, St Mary Woolnoth (a Hawksmoor comparison), St Stephen Walbrook (may be exterior only). St Mary Aldermary (exterior), St Mary Le Bow. St Paul’s.

Spaces are strictly limited for this special event presented by the Livery Committee, so you are advised to book early. Maximum two tickets per Stationer.

Meet at St Magnus Martyr in Lower Thames Street (nearest Tube Monument) at 10.45am, tour starts at 11 and finishes at 1pm approx at St Paul’s, where you can buy yourself lunch if you wish.

Tickets are £20 with all money going to the Stationers’ charities. To book now, please email Dave Rosewell on dave.rosewell@icloud.com
