Notes to Editors

CPI is the leading trade association representing the UK’s Paper-based Industries, comprising paper and board manufacturers and converters, corrugated packaging producers, makers of soft tissue papers, and collectors of paper for recycling. CPI represents an industry with an aggregate annual turnover of £15 billion, with 56,000 direct and a further 59,000 indirect employees.

The Paper Gold Medal is regarded as the industry’s most prestigious individual honour. Established in the late 1960s, this award is presented to a person who has demonstrated excellence and dedication well beyond their day-to-day role, making a lasting and unique contribution to the broader UK’s Paper-based Industries.

A great finale to a year of Stationers literary events

A great finale to a year of Stationers literary events

26 NOVEMBER 2025

An outstanding literary lunch was the fitting finale to a year of successful Stationers events.

Liveryman Jon Drori held the packed upper room of Ye Olde Watling pub in the City spellbound with stories about the characters that made up his latest book,  The Stuff That Stuff Is Made Of. They were, of course, all plant life!

Event organiser  Mike James introduced Jon, who was interviewed by fellow Liveryman Chris Roycroft-Davis.
Jon entertained a sell-out crowd of Stationers as he spoke about his latest book for children of all ages, The Stuff That Stuff Is Made Of. Jon’s good humour and passion for plants and trees are infectious. He reminded the audience that we are all dependent on plants — whether we eat them directly or rely on animals that need plants to survive and grow.

St Ceciliatide Concert 2025

25 NOVEMBER 2025

A joint event coordinated by Help Musicians and the Musicians Company in aid of Help Musicians ( formerly the Musicians Benevolent Fund ) was planned as part of our joint celebrations for St Cecilia, the patron saint of Musicians.  Underneath our 1890 stained glass window of St Cecilia an array of world class musicians came together compèred by Katie Derham bringing her relaxed Classic FM and BBC Proms style to the gala evening. A number of the performers  had benefitted from the charity’s support when early in their careers and spoke movingly, in conversation, about its importance as today’s young aspiring musicians lack the financial provision that they had. A wonderful

programme from:

Susan Bullock CBE, soprano

Madeleine Mitchell, violin (accompanied by Gordon MacKay)

Joanna MacGregor, CBE, piano

Malcolm Martineau OBE, piano accompanist

Trip to Buckingham Palace

Trip to Buckingham Palace

3 NOVEMBER 2025

On Monday 27th October, the Hall Team were called upon to make a special delivery.

Nathan Stanfield and Bradley Drake had the honour of delivering one of the two framed declarations which Her Majesty The Queen had signed during her visit back in July.  Most deliveries to Buckingham Palace are to the side door on Buckingham Palace Road, but on this occasion we were invited to enter through the Privy Purse door, effectively the front door of the palace, through which official guests are welcomed.

At 2pm, Nathan & Bradley, dressed in their finest, presented themselves to the police officers at the North Centre Gate, and then proceeded across the forecourt.  Says Nathan "It was surreal, walking up to one of the most famous buildings in the world whilst being watched by hundreds of tourists, an absolutely magic moment!"  Once inside, they were met by Her Majesty’s Press Secretary and the Declaration handed over.  Bradley certainly savoured the moment "Just to be inside the Palace in amazing, not something I thought would ever happen".  Though only a brief visit, it was a real treat and something that will be such a special memory.

As for the other signed declaration, this will be used as the centrepiece of a new display, set on the wall in the link corridor, along with many photos from the day itself.  Many happy memories to relive every time you pass by.
