The Hall resounded to glorious music last night as the Hanover Band played its way through a superb programme of music including works by C P E Bach, C F Abel, G F Handel and J S Bach. The image (taken by Sophia Panteli) shows how well the band sat in the setting of Stationers' Hall and the acoustics lend themselves so well to this type of programme.  The concert and subsequent dinner were in aid of the Foundation.  Those of you who missed this concert missed a great treat but don't despair - there will be more concerts from the Hanover Band in June and November so look out for those dates as they become known, get them in the diary and get your tickets as soon as booking opens.

Some twenty Stationers and and staff gathered in  the Card Room today, 2 February, for a long awaited session on PR.  Suggested by Liverymen Di Thompson (Cresswell) and Annie Hotton in the Marketing Advisory Committee last October as a way of trying to increase the amount of press coverage the Company gets, the session was attended by representatives from almost all the Company's committees.   There were tips, hints and wisdom galore and really members ought, over the coming months, to notice an increase in press coverage. Do let us know if you see the Company mentioned in the press, whether local or national. One piece of advice which actually would stand anyone in good stead in any field, not just PR, was the PPPPP advice: proper preparation prevents poor performance!

There are some gorgeous photos from the Skiing competition this year thanks to Bob Findlay and Oliver Gadsby.  Despite the Master's tumble the team's spirits were not diminished by the lack of trophies.  Martin Woodhead, the team captain, has written a full report which you will find on the Inter- Livery Competitions page which you can access by clicking here.   He is on the look out for other skiers within the Company who might like to take part in 2016 so do click through to the Inter-Livery Competitions page and register your interest if you are a skier.  The team certainly seems to have great fun each year...

This past weekend the BBC  World Service broadcast a programme in its The Food Chain series on The Secret Life of Packaging which featured our very own Liveryman Jane Bickerstaffe. Jane, INCPEN’s Director,  spoke at the recent Environment and Sustainability Group roundtable event on how packaging can make a difference to the amount of food currently being wasted.

On Wednesday, 21 January, Stationers' Hall was delighted to welcome the National Calendar Awards back for its annual ceremony. Stands were imported and calendars of all shapes and sizes hung in readiness for the influx of calendar professionals all of whom were obviously keen for their nominations to have won but also enthusiastic to see what everyone else had done too.

On Monday, 19 January over 60 attendees, including Liveryman Annie Hotton who has submitted this report, came to the Environment and Sustainability Group's roundtable event on packaging which was sponsored by INCPEN.

In an earlier item on Latest News you will have read that the Stationer's Company hosted its winter Trade Association event earlier this week and that Tom Bowtell of the British Coatings Federation spoke about all that he had done to win the TA Forum  Leadership of the Year Award. We were all fascinated to learn hear about a scheme in which the BCF are partners and which

Twice a year the Stationers' Company invite the Trade Associations linked to the Communications and Content industries to the Hall. They arrived today, despite the transport difficulties on South West Trains and Eurostar (one of the speakers finally arrived at midday!) and enjoyed a very instructive presentation from Rax Lakhani of Lucre PR on Social Media.

The Stationers' skiing team is assembling this week for the 2015 Inter-Livery Skiing competition which will take place on 23 and 24 January.  Martin Woodhead (Captain ) reports on 17 January that "a huge amount of snow has fallen in the past 24 hours, transforming muddy brown expanses into glorious white pistes".
