CORPORATE MEMBER HEIDELBERG UK PARTNERED WITH GLASTONBURY FESTIVAL 2025 TO CELEBRATE PRINT HERITAGE AND INSPIRE FUTURE TALENT

HEIDELBERG UK was proud to partner with the Glastonbury Festival of Contemporary Performing Arts 2025, specifically supporting the Glastonbury Free Press. The festival is one of the UK's most iconic cultural events and is currently in its 55th year.
The festival’s newspaper is printed in the Free Press section, on a vintage 1950s 7-ton HEIDELBERG Cylinder Press. The sight and sound of the HEIDELBERG letterpress machine drew thousands of visitors, including children and Fleet Street veterans. And from today's digital-first vantage point, it was a fascinating reminder of the rich history and craftsmanship of the print industry and HEIDELBERG.
As part of this partnership, HEIDELBERG UK announced an apprenticeship opportunity for ONE young person nominated by Glastonbury Festival Events Ltd and its partners. The response was enthusiastic, with around one hundred festivalgoers registering to receive information about the programme.
The selected apprentice will receive comprehensive training as a printing machine engineer, gaining hands-on experience with state-of-the-art equipment and techniques across HEIDELBERG’s UK operations. Upon successful completion of the programme, a job offer may be made, subject to availability of a suitable role.
HEIDELBERG Managing Director, Ryan Miles, commented, “It’s inspiring to see part of our HEIDELBERG tradition and heritage being appreciated by so many people, and more so that it is the basis for encouraging the next generation to join our fantastic industry and company. This year has been special as we celebrate our 175 Year Anniversary, and the blend of history and future was truly fitting for such an occasion.”
Team HEIDELBERG UK was truly inspired by the chance to connect with dozens of young people interested in a conversation about the apprenticeship programme and the modern printing industry.
HEIDELBERG is excited to bring young people into the industry, shaking preconceptions of the trade.
