LEWIS MASONIC HAS BEEN AWARDED THE PRESTIGIOUS STATIONERS’ COMPANY WARRANT FOR ITS COMMEMORATIVE TERCENTENARY VOLUME

Published by Lewis in 2025, the Grand Lodge of Ireland Tercentenary Souvenir Guide (Commemorative Edition) offers a unique journey through over three centuries of Irish freemasonry, showcasing treasures from the Grand Lodge's remarkable heritage collections.

This title covers the fascinating history of the world's second Grand Lodge, and features rare archival documents, historic books, paintings, and ceremonial regalia, providing a vivid insight into the rich material culture of Irish freemasonry and its impact both in Ireland and abroad. Each treasure is illustrated with a full-page, high-quality photograph so the reader can appreciate the details of each piece.

The book was released to coincide with the official tercentenary celebrations held in Dublin and needed to cater to a wide-ranging, international audience. First and foremost, to the masons attending from both home and abroad, some of whom would have in-depth knowledge of the subject, but also those relatively new to the order or Ireland's place in its timeline. And then also to non-masons attending the public tours at Dublin’s Freemasons’ Hall. A paperback version was also produced, primarily for this audience.

Design and Production 

For this commemorative edition, each element was chosen to create a lasting memento:

• Binding & Foil: The dark blue binding in Corvon Iridescents Bengaline and gold foil blocking on the front cover were selected to mirror the colours of the Grand Lodge logo. The signatures were section-sewn to provide strength and longevity.
• Endpapers: The light blue, textured endpapers were produced using Colorplan Azure with cord embossing, drawing inspiration from the silk ribbon found on Irish regalia and the official Tercentenary Jewel.
• Typography: The text is set in Granjon, a serif typeface designed c.1924 by master printer and freemason George W. Jones. Its design is rooted in the 16th-century Roman types of Claude Garamond and the italics of Robert Granjon.
• Iconography: The cover art adapts the universal Square and Compasses to mimic the enigmatic Baal’s Bridge Square, a cornerstone of masonic heritage, while incorporating elements from the official Tercentenary Logo.
