London Press Club Awards celebrate the best of journalism

The Times and the BBC scooped the top prizes at the prestigious London Press Club Awards 2025.

The nation’s top journalists came together for what was described by compere and BBC broadcaster Riz Lateef as “The Oscars” of the journalism industry.

London Press Club chair Doug Wills told those gathered for the awards ceremony at the historic Stationers’ Hall on Wednesday: “Today the content and communications industry is facing seismic change. Everyone is grappling with the challenges and consequences of AI, and the ever-faster growing impact of social media.

“Today we celebrate the best of original journalism, the best of today’s media. Let’s all make sure we use the technology to keep journalism at the heart of our industry.

Today shows we are fighting our corner for creative, first-person journalism in today’s changing world.”

The highly coveted Press Media Title of the Year was awarded to The Times.

Journalist Alistair Osbourne was also awarded Business Journalist of the Year.

The national daily newspaper was also nominated for seven other awards, including Political Journalist of the Year, Showbiz Journalist of the Year, and Podcast of the Year for its new podcast series The General & The Journalist.

The BBC picked up four prizes, with industry titans Chris Mason, Laura Scott, Jeremy Bowen, and Sue Mitchell all receiving high praise for their contributions to journalism.

Royal correspondent for The Standard, Robert Jobson, announced the prize for Londoner of the Year, which was awarded to photojournalist Sir Don McCullin.
