FREEMAN PHILIP WOMACK'S BOOK FOR TEENS GHOSTLORD WAS SUNDAY TIMES CHILDREN’S BOOK OF THE WEEK

7 AUGUST 2024

Freeman Philip Womack's book for teens Ghostlord was Sunday Times Children’s Book of the Week

Philip Womack became a Freeman of the Stationers’ in October 2023. He is a writer, educator and freelance journalist based in London.

His most recent book for teens, Ghostlord, was Sunday Times Children’s Book of the Week, and last month he enjoyed giving a talk at Chichester College in West Sussex about his books, including its predecessor, Wildlord. Both are set in the modern world, but involve magic and ancient mysteries. This August he will be delivering a creative writing workshop with Via Facilis, an educational charity which promotes the teaching of Latin in state schools.

is most recent book for adults, How to Teach Classics to Your Dog, a quirky introduction to the Greeks and Romans, has now been translated into Spanish and Russian.

Recent articles for the press include pieces on the importance of writing, and on William Shakespeare, for The Spectator - both of which should be of particular interest to Stationers!

Philip has also been working with the Royal Literary Fund, delivering writing workshops in a variety of settings, including the NHS and recovery colleges.  He’s very much looking forward to becoming more involved with the Stationers’ over the next few months.
