2 AUGUST 2024

IPG launches programme and bookings for the 2024 Autumn Conference

The Independent Publishers Guild has unveiled the programme and opened bookings for its 2024 Autumn Conference in London on Tuesday 17 September.

Keynote speakers will include Alastair Campbell, podcast star, bestselling author, journalist and former government director of communications, who will explore the landscapes of politics and media and what publishers might learn from podcasting. A second keynote comes from Dharshini David, BBC chief economics correspondent, independently-published author and an IPG Conference favourite, who will have an incisive take on the UK and global economy in 2024 and beyond.

Inspiring publishing leaders joining the Conference include Rachel Williams and Jenny Broom, co-founders of Magic Cat Publishing, the 2024 CPI Independent Publisher of the Year, with a masterclass of growing a business with positive values and work-life balance at the core.

Other big themes of the Autumn Conference will include

  • A guide to the latest tools for better sustainability and accessibility
  • Practical advice for better author liaison, maximizing Spotify revenue, promoting reading for pleasure and much more
  • The opportunities and risks of AI, with Vicky Hartley of Watkins Media on its editorial use and PLS’ Tom West on the role of collective licensing
  • Break-outs dedicated to academic and professional publishing, including ProQuest’s Tash Edmonds on global library trends and Bristol University Press’ Alison Shaw on combining success with a social mission
  • Finance tips, with case studies of crowdfunding, Shimmr AI’s Nadim Sadek on venture capital and a financial management 101 from Martin Casimir
