While members of the Court were having one of their regular meetings, Melissa Mash, the Consort to the Master, led a group of Court spouses and partners on a short tour of the Fleet Street area of the City of London.
The principal feature of the tour was a visit to the house of Dr Samuel Johnson, the celebrated father of the modern English Dictionary. Just around the corner, Melissa also pointed out the Blue Plaque on the wall at Bolt Court which recognises where the Stationers’ Company’s School was originally located from 1861 – 1893. The school later moved to Hornsey, North London before closing in 1983. The current Master and Past Master Bishop Stephen Platten were both pupils at the school.
